Li Tie Qiao (born 23 September 1973 in Hunan province) is a Chinese composer and saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist. He mostly engages in experimental and free improvisation projects. In his improvisation he bravely experiment in search for a new expression between the boarders of jazz, rock and electronic noise.

As a child, he played bamboo flute. He went to music school where he learned trombone and played in a military band.

He moved to Beijing in 1995. Where he start to study alto saxophone by himself. He played in some experimental rock bands and established contact with a lot of avant-garde artists, poets and musicians in Beijing.

He moved to Norway in 2005 and was warmly welcomed by a number of Norwegian musicians. During his time in Norway he have played with Paal Nilssen-Love, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Maja Ratkje, Ketil Gutvik, Rolf-Erik Nystrøm etc.

Kuriko

Guzheng player. Born in Shanghai in 1981. . Having cooperated with
Norwegian, Frech and American musicians, she has collected her own
experiences of performance. Not like Pipa or so, Guzheng is even a more
inflexible instrument when working with western music, but this brings
pleasant challenges to her. Kuriko considers, sometimes more rhythms
should be used, instead of melodies, for achieving a “modern” effect.

Mats Monstad Drums
