I samband med Globaliseringskonferensen 2012 presenterer Konsertforeninga, FemmeBrutal och Chick (!) Chumbawamba & Böyen Beng på Blitz scen.

Detta är inte vilken Chumbawambakonsert som helst, utan den sista de gör EVER. De kallar den lilla turnén för “Celebrate the day of the dead with Chumbawamba”, och deras pressemelding lyder som sådan:

“Chumbawamba are marking the occasion of their thirtieth birthday by quitting. In an age when the fashion is for ageing bands to re-form, it seems fitting for one of pop’s ageing maverick outsiders to take the opposite approach.

In the spirit of Mexico’s infamous ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations, Chumbawamba will not be mourning the end but celebrating the journey – dancing to the spirit of a life well-lived, and drinking a toast to times past by playing three final shows, one in Leeds, one in Berlin, and one in Oslo. A pan-European farewell to their friends and supporters.

The Day of the Dead – El Dia de los Muertos – is not a time of sadness but a time of joy, merriment and remembrance. This is a day when the tombs fly open, and when the dead come out to play for one night of mischief before returning to their graves.

Chumbawamba – yes, they got knocked down, etc (cue clichéd headline) are here one more time to shake your bones and rattle your graves."

Böyen Beng är ju Oslos egna folkpunkband – och som vi ser det den ultimata uppvärmningen för dessa gamla anarkofolkpunkare (som också har kört lite discostyle, ska medges) – dock inte denna gång då det blir akustiskt för hela slanten.
