17.30 DEBATE: HOW TO BUILD A NATION FROM SCRATCH, Presented by The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs – NUPI

Is there a one-size-fits-all model for building a democratic state?
When South Sudan became an independent country in 2011, they started from scratch after 50 years of civil war. Do international experts and the UN have the right recipe?

With: Cedric de Coning, Head of the research group for Peace Operations and Peacebuilding at NUPI, Øyvind Eggen, Policy Director for the Evaluation Department at NORAD and Liv Tørres, Secretary General at the Norwegian People’s Aid. Moderator: Tove Gravdal, Morgenbladet.

Debate in Norwegian.
