Maker Stories: Fimbulvetr

Welcome to Maker Stories, the monthly meetup series of MESH Makers!

Each month, we are inviting speakers to share their maker stories. These talks are going to be showcasing interesting DIY and maker projects, inspiring scientific experiments, stories of craftsmanship, anecdotes on product design, hardware development and what it takes to get from idea to manufacturing and building a successful company.

Maker Stories are more than a series of talks, you can meet fellow makers and catch our guests and their products in a pop-up shop in the MESH Café!

On the first Maker Stories we invited the makers of the coolest snow shoes: Fimbulvetr.

As a snowboarder, Kristian Wenstøp, has been using snowshoes to climb the snowiest peaks in the backcountry. As a product designer, he really felt he could make them better. Together with his brother and friends at Pivot Produktdesign, he started making something that looked like snowshoes. Some months later they met Ketil Løkke and his colleagues at Maskinen. After 3 years in the making, they all launched a new snowshoe brand called Fimbulvetr, as winners of the ISPO BrandNew 2014/15 in Munich. On Thursday the 20th, they are sharing their maker story.
