The Boiler Room proudly presents the Norwegian artist Hege Lønne (1961) for our summer exhibition Walls.

Lønne’s comprehensive artistic career spans over more than three decades and includes works of many formats including sculptures, objects, textual works as well as video and installation, all with close relations to its surroundings.

Lønne’s works often incorporates fiction through its objects and how reality and its given truths can be transformed into something new, unknown and mythical by pulling the strings of nature and mediate it through reflections. Always considering the surroundings and using the space which the work originated from.

The exhibition Walls takes on the actual shape of the gallery room and transforms it into a miniature version of itself. Working with modeling compound and plaster, Lønne’s interpretation of the space is not just a miniature copy of reality, but a reversed replica where the space has been replaced with solid mass and vice versa. Lønne’s sculptures reflect the room in the same way a negative is connected to its photo, showing the opposite.

Hege Lønne is based in Oslo and Warsaw and commutes between the two. With art education from Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and Trondheim Academy of Fine Art she is well settled in the European art scene. Throughout her career she has exhibited at venues such as Galeria Foksal (1986) in Warsaw, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien (1991) in Berlin, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (2006/2008) in Warsaw and CCS Bard Galleries in New York (2010)
