DOOMRIDERS (US) + COLISEUM (US)

Breial aften på Pokalen 16. november. To avsindig bra band fra Unaiten hånd i hånd gjennom Europa. USA er kanskje ikke så bra med rund ball, men når det kommer til breial, ond punkrock så snakker vi fort finaleplass. Dette blir en tung kveld uten like som du ikke kan gå glipp av. Er du i tvil? Sjekk de ut da vel!

DOOMRIDERS (US)
“Grand Blood” from Doomriders is the follow up to their highly regarded 2010 album “Darkness Comes Alive”. “Grand Blood” was engineered by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, and features artwork from Thomas Hooper as well as packaging from Ryan Patterson (Coliseum) and J. Bannon.
Where “Darkness Comes Alive” was smooth and heavy in tone “Grand Blood” is jagged and hard in its heart. “Grand Blood” is Doomriders pushing themselves into wilder sonic territory previously unexplored by the band. In songs like “Back Taxes” and “Bad Vibes”, an angular noise rock influence takes the lead, creating a harsh and charged environment. Not to fret, the hooks Doomriders are known for are as sharp as ever though, sinking into songs like the personal “Dead Friends” and melodious and emotional “Gone to Hell”. Two songs that impressively showcase Nate Newton’s evolving vocal ability. While monsters “Father Midnight”, “New Pyramids”, and “Death In Heat” are Doomriders at their heaviest and discordant to date. All complimented by new drummer Q (Magic Circle, Clouds, etc), whose frantic style powers this genre crossing masterpiece.
COLISEUM (US)
Founded by Louisville musician Ryan Patterson and including Kayhan Vaziri and Carter Wilson, power trio Coliseum have grown to become one of today’s quintessential contemporary punk bands. Successfully melding progressive musicianship, hardcore fervor, and vital social awareness into one constantly evolving artistic vision.
Over the last decade Coliseum have released music on a host of labels including; Temporary Residence, Relapse, Level Plane, Auxiliary (Ryan’s own label), and even Deathwish (“True Quiet / Last Wave” 2009).
And now, 2014 brings Coliseum and Deathwish together again as their permanent label home. “We have a long and storied history with Deathwish and their family of bands,” says Patterson. “Not only did we work with the label on the ‘True Quiet’ 7”, we’ve toured around the world with Deathwish bands, released a split with Doomriders early on, and I’ve been fortunate enough to design a number of Deathwish releases. While Coliseum officially joining the label’s roster is a new chapter for us, it feels like a homecoming.”
To celebrate Coliseum’s 10th anniversary, we are proud to present the “Coliseum” Deluxe Reissue: A twenty song collection featuring their classic self titled debut album (out of print since 2006) paired with eight essential bonus tracks from their primordial years. Originally recorded by Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh and now fully remixed by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, the release also features new deluxe packaging, insightful liner notes, and cover artwork by John Baizley of Baroness.
