Frædag with Tin Man and Trulz & Robin, g-Ha & Olanskii

[Bilde]

Fridays at Jæger is always about the music with residents, g-Ha & Olanskii presiding over an evening that only ever features the best in dance music. With g-Ha & Olanskii’s steady, experienced hands at the decks and with the latter’s unparalleled ability to book the guests everyone wants to hear, Frædag is about the music and bringing like-minded people together. Every Frædag we invite a host of international DJs and live acts to our basement with a focus on bringing together a concise evening’s musical programming that can go from Disco to Techno, and spares no stone unturned in the pursuit of good club music. And while g-Ha and Olanskii apply their vast musical knowledge at the controls of the evening downstairs, Cellius, Oskar Pask and Ricky Late keep our lounge cosy with the three musical personalities laying down the very latest and best in House and Techno.

This week they are joined by Tin Man and Trulz & Robin in our basement. Tin Man is an artist in the truest sense of the word. Over the last decade now the man born Johannes Auvinen has explored an ever evolving sound palette that touches on house, techno and ambient. Much like his namesake’s character in the Wizard of Oz, he has been on a mission to find his true self, except this Tin Man’s medium has been music. His tracks are been laced with slow and subtly shifting patterns that are infused with a very real machine soul and exude captivating warmth. The finest proof of this yet was his slowly unfolding and tender LP, Neo Neo Acid on Absurd: it was his sixth full length to date and was arguably his most coherent and comprehensive work. Tin Man likes to thrive in the vocalisations of his machines, creating textured soundtracks on the fly, using a range of FX and skills built up over the last decade. He never fails to make people dance to his beat and before he takes to the stage, we have Oslo’s own Trulz and Robin setting the mood with their own live show.

Trulz Kvam and Robin Crafoord share an intuitive bond when it comes to music, one that is informed through similar tastes and a lifetime of working together as Trulz and Robin. They have an instinctive understanding of their machines, from which they coax infectious dance music through raw feeling. Trulz and Robin make music that stems from organic improvisation, refined in the circuits of the machine, and what follows are visceral executions of sophisticated tempers from the world of Techno, House and acid. The duo’s productions feature a razor sharp polished edge that are the product of ingenuity as much as it is experience and has found favour with labels like Eskimo and Full Pupp in the past. They are well known for their technically magnificent live show opening up for the likes of Peaches and playing for packed audiences at Roskilde, and it’s exactly this show that they’ll be bringing to Jæger’s basement for this event.
