UPSILON ACRUX
Founded by guitarist Paul Lai almost two decades ago, the ever-morphing Upsilon Acrux has been described by Thurston Moore as “amazing” and by Nels Cline as “some of the most detailed compositions I have ever heard.”
Inspired initially by King Crimson, among others – 1999’s debut album was titled In the Acrux of the Upsilon King – the band is now its own inscrutable beast. Hyper-complex, brutally dense, Upsilon employs two drummers, clean guitar tones, Rhodes piano and horns, in the service of polyrhythmic compositions that twist, turn, squirm, and confound. Upsilon Acrux should dazzle fans of bands like Don Caballero, Behold The Arctopus, and Mick Barr’s many projects, and of their predecessors in the realms of prog, krautrock, and free jazz.

JOHN CHANTLER
John Chantler is a musician and organiser living in Stockholm, Sweden. Originally from Australia he spent a decade in London before moving to Sweden. There he worked as the producer at the celebrated experimental music venue Cafe OTO. He is now directing a new festival for ‘improvised and other music’ in Stockholm called Edition. The ‘First Edition’ took place in February 2016 at Fylkingen, Kronobageriet and Rönnells Antikvariat.
Chantler has developed his sound from organic electronics to his current interests in exploratory electro-acoustics, messy guitars, minimalism, pipe-organs and a loose spin on rhythm. He has released records on Room40, Piehead, Fat Cat, 1703 Skivbolaget, and his own Inventing Zero Records.

Heavy drones, ambient and massive industrial walls of sound is what you can expect from Sten Ove Toft, who has 15 years of experience in the Norwegian noise scene, has performed in more than 20 countries and released numerous records, both as a solo artist and with Altaar, Ryfylke, Utarm, Faux Pas and many others.
