In Conversation: Pedro Gómez-Egaña & Mathijs van Geest

Entrée invites you to join us Upstairs at Bergen Kunsthall, for a conversation between our exhibiting artist Pedro Gomez-Egaña and invited guest, artist Mathijs van Geest. The conversation will focus on the current exhibition ‘Pleasure’ that opens Saturday 8pm.

Pedro Gómez-Egaña (b.1976, Colombia) lives and work in Bergen and Copenhagen. He is educated from Goldsmiths College and Bergen National Academy of Arts, and completed the Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Program in 2012. He works with sculpture, video, phonography, and site specific works that include a focus on motion and temporality. His work has recently been shown at Contour Biennial in Belgium, Museum of Modern Art in Medellín, Colombia, Kochi-Muziris Bienniale in India and Performa 13 Biennial in New York. His work is included in The 9th Norwegian Sculpture Biennial, opening next week in Oslo.

Mathijs van Geest (b.1985, The Netherlands) lives and work in Bergen. He studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and the National Academy of Arts and Design in Bergen. Recent projects and exhibitions have taken place at In The Library, Bergen University faculty of Art and Design; Peach, Rotterdam; Kvit, Copenhagen; Norwegian Sculpture Biennale in Oslo; Tag Team in Bergen; Entrée Bergen Pracownia Portretu, ?odz. Poland; Ancien Musée de Peinture, Grenoble and EKKM Museum of Contemporary Art in Tallinn. Last week he finished a three-month residency as Helsinki International Artist Program (HIAP). Mathijs van Geest co-runs a small publishing project named Apis Press and he works as associate curator at Hordaland Art Centre.
