From sunrise to sunset Kimvi will convey her message of ‘PEACE’ to the audience of birds, wildlife and people. A white flag signifies to all that an approaching negotiator is unarmed, with an intent to surrender or a desire to communicate. Wearing a black dress, handling the 2 white flags I will be spelling out the word ‘PEACE’ by using the Flag semaphore method. Each letter spelled out will be held in position as long as possible, before the next letter is created. This process will be repeated continually spelling out the word ‘PEACE’ whilst standing or lying flat on the ground until sunset.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kimvi Nguyen (UK) studied Fine Art Sculpture at Winchester School of Art and graduated in 2011. Since then her passion for traveling has been a profound influence on her art practice. It has become a manifestation of performance, sculpture, site specific installation and community projects. Exploring the visual relationship between cultures, customs, traditions and material. Kimvi does not tread heavily on the environment in which she finds herself in, rather seeking to make artwork which reflects each place and is of each place.

ABOUT HUMAN SCARECROWS 2.0

► For the second year, Human Scarecrows’ series of non-eventful moments will suggest performative rituals allowing a dialogue with the birds to prevent them from eating the seeds. Rather than chasing them away, we aim to engage a dialogue and distract them by any means: they will be the true spectators.
All the performances and actions will be using alternative technologies as source of power and will be activated in between sunsets and sunrises.
► Human Scarecrows 2.0 is taking place everyday at 5pm at Flatbread Society from the 9th to the 17th of June.
