Kadonnut Manner – Finnish Primitive Guitar European Tour 2017

Lauri Manner (b. 1983, Suomussalmi, Finland) has been active as a bass player, vocalist and songwriter in various finnish punk and rock bands (Out of Tune, Death by Snoo Snoo, Viimeinen Maailmansota etc.) for the past 20 years. Lately he has been making completely differrent music as Kadonnut Manner (“the lost continent”, a pun on his last name) and exploring differrent dimensions of the acoustic country blues tradition.

Drawing influences from Mississippi John Hurt’s country blues, John Fahey school of American Primitive Guitar playing and finnish folk music, Kadonnut Manner has been described as cinematic, raw and emotional journey to faraway destinations inside your own mind (powered by imagination, not chemicals). It features lots of open tunings, hot syncopation and driving rhythms and it expands the country blues form with things borrowed from different folk traditions, 20th century classical music and other inspiring things.

The first Kadonnut Manner album was released as a limited edition tape and a digital download in January 2017, and can be found here: kadonnutmanner.bandcamp.com , there’s a second 100 copy edition of the tape made for the tour which will be sold for 5 € / copy at the shows. Lauri is also playing lots of new compositions made after the album, hoping to hone them during the tour, so they’ll be ready to be recorded for the second album right after coming back home in October.
