A Site Specific workshop at Sentralen – Oslo! 16th and 17th of September! Are you between 16-19 years old? Do you want to rediscover and create a small piece together inspired by the amazing space at Sentralen? FREE workshop!!!! During the workshop we will talk about the concept of site specific performance, and work together to create a small piece that we will end with on Sunday. We will prepare our bodies through warm-up exercises, to be able to use them in the creative work – inspired by the space.
This is a 2-day workshop, from 10.30-14.30 on the Saturday and Sunday. Everyone will choose their role in the process – from being a performer, to assisting the technical part. During the weekend we will open to try out videoclips and sounds/music as part of the piece.
The workshop wants to investigate the artistic possibilities of some of Sentralen “corners” and fill them up with creative new memories.
Site-specific: refers to a work of art designed specifically for a particular location and that has an interrelationship with the location. As site-specific work of art is designed for a specific location, if removed from that location it loses all or a substantial part of its meaning. A site-specific performance is produced in non-theatrical sites, and aims to engage with the meaning and history or creative impulse of those sites. Because it is not a traditional theatre form it can reach an audiences who might not go to the theatre. Sentralen is a site full of history and architectural interest. More than 100 years of “life” and a spectacular rebirth that opened a great opportunity for site specific art content and experiences.
