“Space is political” is the second seminar organized by MA Scenography at Norwegian Theatre Academy. We invite you to join the discussion about scenographic methods that explore various interdisciplinary intersections we consider as socially engaged: postcolonialism, queer theory, sustainability, environment, art & capitalism…
Space is political but what role can the political play in artistically staged spaces? How can artists shape spaces and places? With a focus on spatial strategies, how do we work with political subjects?
The discussion that arises between theorists, activists, scenographers is exciting – to hear disagreements, to cross-pollinate. We’re curious about new perspectives and problems that might arise from these conversations and talks.
We are excited to host:
Katarina Bonnevier: Architect, scenographer, artist, queer theorist from Sweden.
Dorita Hannah: Scholar and practitioner specializing in theatre architecture and performance design, Tasmania.
Katarina Petrović: Artist whose work deals primarily with space & politics from Serbia.
Maria Monseny i Triquell: Catalan scenographer & activist based in Barcelona.
