Upcycling is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.

Dariusz Wojdyga (b. 1975, Trzebnica) works with the concept of A.T.R.O., a short for “Aesthetically Trash Recycling Objects”. By mixing techniques such as assemblage, collage, relief, painting and prints, Dariusz creates vivid compositions constructed of unnecessary objects saved from the flames of the power plant – fragments of paper, textiles, plastic objects, sand, hair, metal, coffee or strings. He paints on old fiber boards, plywood, table tops and used canvases (often damaged) found in the garbage dump or bought at flea markets: “A new life has been given”.
