Artist Talk: Simone Fezer + Linda Morell

[Bilde]

Simone Fezer and Linda Morell have both been artists in residents at S12. One has long experience working with and teaching glass as an artistic medium and the other just started. Although they have different backgrounds and artistic expressions, you will find that they have something in common; the reference to the human form.

The Artist talk will be followed by a demonstration in the Hot Shop, with Simone Fezer and Jessie Blackmer

We look forward to be hearing more about their artistic practises.

The presentation will be streamed, and later made accessible on our new webpage.

Simone Fezer just finished a month long residency in S12, which culminated in the exhibition, clouding. Fezer has worked as assistant to renowned artists and studied at various international Art Schools such as the Penland School of Crafts, Bild-Werk Frauenau in Germany and Centro Studio Vetro in Italy. She has a Teaching Assignment for Sculptural Glass at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Germany, and exhibits her mostly large-scale installations in Glass and Mixed Media nationally and internationally.

Linda Morell has taken part in our Local Air program. With no previous experience with glass, she was invited into the workshop to learn more about the material.

Linda Morell graduated from The Art Academy in Bergen in 2019 and has also studied at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts. In her practice she examines the relationship between body and sculpture. She looks at the history of shaping and reshaping the human body through medical practices, social phenomena, myths and ideas. With polished steel and ceramics the works explore the hygienic surface and the repellent material. The pieces are bodily machines and synthetic organisms. They relate to the human body and operate with the idea that they are intended and created for it.

Some of the results from her residency, can be seen in the exhibition Asclepieia at Visningsrommet USF 20.- 29. mars.
