“An Echo Looped is a recording of an echo I made that lasts for eighteen seconds that plays on loop. I had wanted to keep an echo. Occasionally it plays on loop from a phone in someone’s pocket as they walk or move around space. I am interested in how sound can perform poetically.I have often thought of the potential for sound to feel like an object that can be held and passed between, or placed inside spaces and times. With this in mind, I can create action works, or performances that use audio inside of them and that challenge the processes of documentation. Because to be able to grasp a sound as a kind of object is to be able to draw it in memory, to be able to lift it into a fiction or into something whose form and format can always keep moving. I work with sound in the same way that I do fragrance, moments, material, and imagery. It becomes the subject of a work. Many of my works are ephemeral and I am very interested in the way they can continue despite their formlessness.”

PARABOL has a particular focus on sonic commissions and edits, and offers a mode of address corresponding with the exhibitions in the main upstairs spaces.
