HOSOYA SCHAEFER ARCHITECTS is a Zürich based studio for architectural designs, strategies and research. It was founded by Markus Schaefer and Hiromi Hosoya in 2003. With an international network of collaborators, the studio is involved in building design and realization, media installations, urban design and strategic planning. The firm won 1st prizes to design a new private airport in St. Moritz–Samedan in Switzerland, and a masterplan for the redevelopment of 230 ha in Ljubliana,Slovenia.
In 2008, the firm received a Contract World Award “New Generation” and Holcim
Foundation acknowledgment for sustainable architecture. Most recently, the firm has been selected to participate in the planning of the railroad station area in St. Moritz.

HIROMI HOSOYA is Japanese. She has Bachelors in English Literature, Fine Arts, and Architecture as well as a Masters in Architecture from Harvard University. After working for several years in international trade for a large Japanese conglomerate, she studied architecture at Rhode Island
School of Design and Harvard University where she graduated with Rem Koolhaas co-publishing the Harvard Guide to Shopping. Afterwards she worked for five years for Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects in Tokyo and Rotterdam. She is currently a University Professor at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien, Austria.

MARKUS SCHAEFER is Swiss. He has a Masters of Architecture from Harvard University. In
addition, he also has a Masters in Neurobiology from the University of Zürich. At Harvard, he first collaborated with his current partner Hiromi Hosoya on the Harvard Guide to Shopping, edited by Rem Koolhaas and published by Taschen in 2001. Prior to founding Hosoya Schaefer, Markus Schaefer was a director of AMO in Rotterdam. AMO is the think tank and research department of
OMA, the architecture office established by Rem Koolhaas. Markus Schaefer taught at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam and held a professorship at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien, Austria
