Open Forum presents: Marie Bovo

MARIE BOVO – the 5th of March 2012 at Kunstakademiets Auditorium – 19.00

Born in 1967 in Alicante (Spain). She lives and works in Marseille (France).

Marie Bovo works on video image and photographic image. She has made a name for herself with her night landscape photographs. Thanks to an extended exposure time, she aims at revealing in a dreamlike way what is usually hidden by night. Time is a key element of many of her works. Being dilated and slowed down, it is different from the time of immediate perception usually linked to photography. Marie Bovo suggests more metaphorical temporalities which recall the universal cycles of the living.
Her work is deeply rooted in reality. It brings into play geopolitical and social issues, especially in the way she considers the city. But, Marie Bovo’s observation of the contemporary world is highly influenced by literary and poetic inspirations that fuel her thought and sensibility.

Marie Bovo is represented by the Kamel Mennour Gallery, Paris.
