Utstilling: Past present future archive

[Bilde]

Archives of the present define not only what is known about the past. They also define what will be known in the future.

Past present future archive is an on-going art project examining a range of methods for the conservation, restoration, storage and safe-keeping of archival material. The project aims to highlight the modern archives’ temporality, their durability, vulnerability and finitude. In addition, the project reflects upon future prospects of traditional paper archives in what is often called the age of digitization.

Past present future archive is conceptualized and produced by artist Bjørn Erik Haugen and cultural historian André Larsen Avelin.

The exhibition is supported by the Norwegian Arts Council, the Fritt Ord foundation and the Norwegian Visual Artists’ Association (NBK).

On display at Galleri Sverdrup, Blindern until August 16th.
