Mr. Fox er spaltist, familiemann og mestertyv. Om dagen jobber han for å få endene til å møtes, og om natten stjeler han mat til seg og sin familie. Når Mr. Fox og hans familie flytter til bedre tilværelser, skaper han hodebry for sine nye naboer. Sammen med pungrotta Kylie Sven Opossum drar Mr. Fox på nattlige raid for å stjele fjærkre fra bøndene i nabolaget. Samtidig lever Mrs. Fox, sønnen Ash Fox og Kristofferson uvitende om Mr. Foxs gjerninger. Bøndene Boggis, Bunce og Bean tar imidlertid opp kampen. Sammen legger de en slagplan for å stoppe Mr. Fox og hans medsammensvorne for alltid.
Fantastic Mr. Fox er basert på Roald Dahls barnebok Fantastic Mr Fox, og er Wes Andersons første og eneste stop-motion animerte film. Manus er skrevet i samarbeid med regissør og manusforfatter Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Margot at the Wedding og Greenberg).

George Clooney stars as Mr. Fox in Wes Anderson’s stop-motion film. Mr. Fox is a master thief, which puts himself in trouble while stealing food from the human farmers. Soon he is forced to put up a fight against the people who tries to kill him, his family and his friends.
