OCA ønsker filosof Sami Khatib velkommen til å holde en forelesning med tittel “Guddommelig vold og lovens forbud” på onsdag 19. november kl 19.00. I sin forelesning vil Kathib ta opp spørsmål om den iboende instrumentelle rollen vold innehar i formasjonen av etikk og estetikk i konseptet om den moderne stat. De nye utbruddene av vold i såkalte vestlige demokratier de siste månedene fremstår som en advarsel på en konflikt som går hånd i hånd med krisen i nasjonalstaten, og setter tydelige spørsmålstegn ved legitimiteten av dens politikk.

OCA welcomes philosopher Sami Khatib to give a lecture titled ‘Divine Violence and the Ban of the Law’ on Wednesday 19 November at 19:00. In his lecture Kathib will address the inherently instrumental role of violence in the formation of ethics and aesthetics in the modern concept of the state. The new burst of violence in so-called Western democracies in the past months appears as a warning on a conflict that goes hand in hand with the crisis of the nation state and clearly questions the legitimacy of its politics.
