The UN - 1945‘s Lesson: ’Good-Enough‘ Global Governance Ain’t Good Enough

Professor Tom Weiss is an internationally acknowledged expert, and author of over 20 books on the subject, including “What’s Wrong With the United Nations and How to Fix It” and “Post-2015 UN Development: Making change happen”.

His talk will build upon a just-published edited volume that revisits the World War 2 origins of the UN, “when multilateralism was not a liberal toy but a commitment to institutionalized cooperation”.

This, he argues, may give us what could be labelled blue-prints for a “third generation” of intergovernmental organizations.

Thomas G. Weiss is Director Emeritus of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, and Presidential Professor of Political Science at The Graduate Center, CUNY (The City University of New York
