Kjære venner! Vi er en gruppe innbyggere i Bergen med ulik tilknytning til kulturfeltet som inviterer til et folkemøte for å vise vårt engasjement rundt situasjonen for et nytt teaterhus i Bergen.
Carte Blanche, Norges Nasjonale Kompani for Samtidsdans, og BIT-Teatergarasjen som presenterer scenekunst fra hele verden, har i snart 10 år hatt behov for et nytt hus for produksjon og forestillinger. Sentralbadet, sentralt plassert i byen, tilbyr en ideell beliggenhet og vil kunne øke synligheten og tilstedeværelsen til begge disse institusjonene som viktige samfunnsaktører i Bergen sitt kulturliv.
Etter mange års forhandlinger, og med innvilgelse fra stat og kommune på en tredjedel hver, ser det ut til at prosessen med restaureringen av det gamle svømmebassenget igjen har gått i stå. Om mindre enn 2 år står Carte Blanche uten et tilholdssted i Bergen og uten et nytt hjem her, kan de måtte forlate byen, og BIT-Teatergarasjen vil måtte redusere sin produksjon drastisk. Vi mener at gjennomføringen av planene for Sentralbadet ikke bare angår administrasjonene på disse to institusjonene, men hele kulturlivet og identiteten til Bergen by.

SØNDAG 4. MARS kl 17:00 samles vi på Studio Bergen. Dagen etter skal det holdes en ekstraordinær generalforsamling mellom Carte Blanche sine eiere (stat, kommune og fylke) for å diskutere situasjonen. La oss sammen vise hvor viktig et teater for samtidsdans og scenekunst er for innbyggerne i Bergen.

Dear friends, we are some citizens of Bergen with different bonds to the cultural scene of the city, sharing a concern around the topic of the new theatre in Bergen.
Carte Blanche, The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance and BIT-Teatergarasjen, hosting performing art productions from all over the world are in need of a new production and showing house since almost 10 years. Sentralbadet, in the core of the city is offering an ideal location and would increase the visibility and presence of both Carte Blanche and BIT-Teatergarasjen as important public actors of the cultural life in Bergen.
After many years of negotiations, and now with the support from the Norwegian state and Bergen Kommune of two thirds of the budget, the process of the restoration of the old swimming pool seems to be on stand-by again. In less than 2 years Carte Blanche will be homeless and might have to leave the city and Bit-teatergarasjen will have to reduce drastically their production.
We think that the implementation of the plans for Sentralbadet not only concern the administrations of these two institutions, but the whole cultural life and identity of the city of Bergen.
We will gather on Sunday 4th of March, 17:00 at Studio Bergen, because on Monday there will be an extraordinary assembly among the owners of Carte Blanche (State, Kommune and Fylke) to discuss the situation. We think it is important to show our interest for the realization of a theatre for contemporary dance and theatre in Bergen.
