I 2020 samlet over 15000 mennesker seg i Oslo for å protesterte mot rasisme, politivold og diskriminering. Markeringen og aktivismen som fulgte skjedde i kjølvannet av store protester og opptøyer i USA etter drapet på George Floyd.

Idag er det satt opp en solidaritetsleir på Universitetet i Oslo i solidaritet med palestinerne som lider under folkemordet på Gaza. Også dette følger strømninger fra blant annet USA, der studenter har møtt hard represjon fra politiet på blant annet UC Berkeley.

8. juni inviterer vi en aktivist fra det Anarkistiske kollektivet Crimethinc. Aktivisten er en av bidragsyterne til boken Work, utgitt i 2011. Igjennom et foredrag får vi følge utviklingen i direkte aksjonistiske virkemidler, gjensidig hjelp, og desentralisert motstand fra 2020 til i dag.
Vi håper å gi aktivister i Norge idag en innsikt i bevegelsene vi tar inspirasjon fra.

In 2020, over 15000 people gathered in Oslo to protest racism, police violence and discrimination. This protest and the activism that followed was inspired by the uprising that took place in the US after the murder of George Floyd.

Today students have created an encampment at the University of Oslo in solidarity with the Palestinians suffering genocide in Gaza. This follows initiatives from the US, where students have faced severe repression from police after similar encampments at places like UC Berkeley.

On June 8th, we welcome an activist involved with the anarchist collective Crimethinc. The activist is one of the contributors to the book Work, published in 2011. Together we will learn the trajectory of social movements in North America from the George Floyd uprising of 2020 to the Gaza solidarity encampments that spread across the world in spring 2024, exploring the role of direct action, mutual aid, and decentralization. We hope to give activists in Norway insight into the movements we are inspired by.
