DAVID HYKES IN CONCERT

Leading composer, singer, sound healing pioneer and consciousness
researcher David Hykes will be giving a rare concert and a
day-long seminar in Oslo, on the occasion of a Norwegian tour,
following a master class at the the Norwegian Academy of Music,
and training the Oslo Philharmonic Choir.

David will be presenting a program of compositions of Harmonic
Chant, the comprehensive approach to the natural harmonic presence
universal to all musical sound he has been developing since 1975.
He will be accompanied by percussionist Rob Waring.

HARMONIC MEETING: THE SEMINAR/GATHERING WITH DAVID HYKES

David Hykes has been leading seminars and retreat groups in the
Harmonic Presence work around the world since 1980. These
“Harmonic Meetings” are designed to give real initiation and
encouragement to participants, helping them get to the heart of
the matter in their own search for harmony, meaning and awakened
awareness. In this seminar, David will share key principles and
practices of the Harmonic Presence work, in the three key areas of
music, healing harmonization, and meditative awareness training.

The music work will be based on Harmonic Chant, the universal
sacred music David has been developing and sharing since 1975.
Besides exploring the natural harmonics of musical sound and the
voice, David will show the integration of the sound element into
the larger questions of the harmonics of consciousness and the
vibrational ecology of breath, listening awareness, physical
sensation, and space. His presentation will speak to the needs of
both trained and untrained musicians, and to both experienced and
novice meditators and spiritual practitioners. The healing
harmonization dimension will arise from the group exercises he
will conduct and from his giving the key aspects for establishing
a personal practice. The more esoteric meditative awareness
aspects of the Harmonic Presence work will also be touched upon,
depending on the interests and motivation of the group. There will
be time for dialogue, sharing, exchange, and much intensive work
with sound, consciousness, listening, and deep harmonization.

DAVID HYKES IN CONTEXT

David founded Harmonic Chant, the original contemporary overtone
vocal music, in New York in 1975. Harmonic Chant is a universal
sacred music based on universal principles of music, physics and
cosmology. David also teaches the Harmonic Presence work, a
holistic system for spiritual and personal growth linking Mind,
Music, Meditation and Medicine. David is a leading contemporary
researcher in the field of music and consciousness, and was the
first western person to study and collaborate with the masters of
the traditions of overtone chant from Tibet, Mongolia and Tuva.

He has collaborated with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Gyuto
and Gyume Monks of Tibet, and recently composed the original music
for Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche’s feature film, “Travellers and
Magicians”, in addition to contributing sacred music to “Meetings
with Remarkable Men”, Peter Brook’s film about the life of
Gurdjieff, “Baraka”, and “Vajra Sky Over Tibet”, endorsed by His
Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Among his 11 music albums are “Hearing Solar Winds”, the
best-selling overtone album of all time (more than 300 000 copies
sold), and the most recent “Harmonic Worlds”. He directs the
Harmonic Presence Foundation, which shares knowledge and research
about the harmonics of consciousness through retreats, seminars,
festivals and conferences. Their next project is a Festival in New
York called “Resonance and Radiance: Sacred Music, Sacred Mind”
which brings together neuroscientists with musicans and spiritual
practitioners, featuring the Nagi Gompa Nuns of Nepal on their
first Western tour and David Hykes with The Harmonic Choir.

David and the Foundation have won many awards for their work
developing a universal sacred music, including a 40 000 Euro
Fellowship from the Flying Elephants Foundation. The Harmonic
Presence Foundation is a charitable organization based in New
York, and also sponsors Pommereau, David’s retreat and seminar
center near Paris. David will be giving the 8th annual Harmonic
Presence retreat in Denmark this summer in an amazing seaside
church in Steyns, Denmark from July 30-August 4, and also gives
Harmonic Presence teachings over the Internet. For more
