Claire Fontaine is a three year old artist based in Paris. Her structure is horizontal and her centre is empty. The “artist”, Claire, is a pure space for participation and interaction of visual and verbal languages, the members of the collective are Claire Fontaine’s “assistants” along with the technicians, the gallerists, the translators and anyone else involved in the production of her work. This device fights the mechanisms of power carried by traditional authorship.
In this presentation the problems related to contemporary political impotency, to visual translation of subversive feelings, and to how to live our need for communism will be raised but not resolved. The notion of “strike” will be adopted as an angle of vision to discuss the possibility of transforming the present, subjectively and objectively.
