innvandrer

innvander will be performed for the first time at UKS in Oslo on 24 October at 7pm as part of the festival held between Black Box Teater and UKS. The performance is FREE.

innvandrer is an entertaining and engaging performance work that attempts to tell stories and recount the experience of movement from one country to another: of my move to Oslo and Norway, my thoughts and experiences of that movement, and my struggles with communication in this new context. The work will be performed in Norwegian with a little english, exploring the limitations and problems of language, as well as ideas of migration and immigration today.

I am currently looking for venues to tour the work around Norway in 2008. The performance has few technical requirements: it needs a suitably quiet performance space, a table and two chairs, a power supply and sufficient lighting. If you are interested in booking a performance of innvandrer or have any questions about the work please do not hesitate to get in touch. Contact details can be found at the bottom of the page.

ENGLAND

There was an amazing response to ENGLAND at this year’s Edinburgh fringe festival. The play picked up three awards: a fringe first, a Herald Archangel (in recognition of all of Tim’s work on the fringe) and a Total Theatre Award.

ENGLAND is the story of a search for a new heart. It’s a story about a life saved and an illness overcome at any cost. It’s a tour through spaces and across borders: from an art gallery to a jam factory, from Edinburgh to Osaka, from a hospital bed to a hotel room. ENGLAND was written and performed by Tim Crouch with Hannah Ringham, and co-directed by a smith and Karl James.

ENGLAND is now set to tour internationally from Spring 2008. More information about the play and a selection of reviews can be found by visiting the news from nowhere website.

hvor er du?

hvor er du? is an interactive performance for a class of young people. Made by a smith and Amund Sjølie Sveen, the project explores ideas of identity, place and belonging. In addition to this, we want to explore and look at ideas of making and reading work, asking the class to complete tasks for the artists before they arrive, effectively beginning the process of work before the event of the artists visiting the school. In hvor er du? we are all the makers of the work, with each visit creating different results.

The finishing touches will be made to this interactive performance for young people at the end of September, with the project beginning around Oslo in November.
