Little Wings (US)

Endelig kommer Little Wings til Norge! Vi er ekstremt stolte over å presentere Little Wings i høst. Kortversjonen: Little Wings er Kyle Field. "

Little Wings er også portrettert i en film sammen med Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie/The Microphones)

Fra Wikipedia: Field was born in Alabama, the son of a college football coach, but his family quickly moved to California where he grew up to love surfing. Kyle’s fluid surfing style displays both the swooping and soaring of a gull. Living primarily as a transient and always touring, he has spent time working in liquor stores and living in his truck’s camper shell.

During a disastrous tour of Hawaii in the Spring of 2006, Kyle slept under a bridge because no one, including the organizers of the tour, knew he was in town. Consequently, he got sick.

Kyle played bass in the band Rodriguez with M. Ward and Mike Funk.

Field is also an acclaimed visual artist. His first book of drawings was released on the label Ahornfelder

Anmeldelse på NPR:

NPR.org, November 5, 2007 – Little Wings features the beautiful songwriting and distinctive voice of Kyle Field. His latest CD, Soft Pow’r, is a warm collection of intimate, lo-fi folk-pop, featuring a few guests from K Records. In the past Field has also worked with artists like M. Ward and Jason Lytle of Grandaddy.

Soft Pow’r is a fitting title for the album and most of the Little Wings releases. Kyle Field conjures mellow moods with a gentle guitar and voice. His layered falsetto weaves in and out while distant drums play subtle beats. The intimate production feels like the album was recorded in a small closet.

Kyle asks the question “What’s the beep about?” over a steady soul tempo and wandering piano on “Beep About”. The featured track, “Scuby” is a somber folk tune that opens the album with a solid melody.

The album was released on the Marriage Records subsidiary, RAD. In addition to making music, Kyle is also known for surfing and his artwork.
