Theories of patriarchy have been criticised for being partial, grand, static without agents etc.

This symposium aims towards communication and learning across a pluralism of theoretical positions, not to maintain rigidly to one’s own preferred position. Many versions of patriarchy and structural theories exist. Today, there is a need to reassess these approaches and gain more systematic knowledge.

With speakers from the Nordic region and from/with experiences from Southeast Europe we want to discuss different structural gender theories including theories of patriarchy with focus on how these different positions may be useful in empirical work.
