CARRE + ORGANIZATION (ExT Recordings / Japan)
YUDAYA JAZZ (Japan)

The Tokugawa Computer Kinshirei Scandinavian Tour 2008: liberation from the digital yoke, the mania of equalisation, output by the millisecond… At the moment even so-called “noise” music is being boxed-up, but ? Busratch, Carre, Organization and Yudaya Jazz continue to hunt down space where fresh sound is free to flow. Using recordless-turntables, video ghosts and mixing desks that hoot and howl, they track muffled vibes along hidden cracks, disguised lisps and strident sirens to reveal the now in genre-less glory, above and beyond any race for the new.

BUSRATCH (Katsura Mouri). Travelling companions of Christian Marclay, Janek Schaefer and Otomo Yoshihide, the duo behind the decks that make up BUSRATCH are on the way to inventing a genre unto themselves, transforming record players into instruments in their own right, replacing the vinyl with mouse pads and cymbals or just leaving the needle to plough a furrow in the empty turntable.

CARRE (MTR+NAG). Two young musicians mixing guitar, synth and feedback. Sworn enemies of MIDI, they unleash uncontrollable forces on their music, the beauty lying in the danger of the game. Stimulated rather than subjugated in a magma of house, hardcore, new wave and pop, they play no less than 3 dates a month in Tokyo.

ORGANIZATION (Kazunao Nagata). A key figure in Japanese electronica since the beginning of the 90s, Nagata is still very much unknown outside Japan. Active in the techno circles of modern exotica (in the duo Fantastic Explosion) and improvisation (at the controls of his legendary ARP-2600), he is also a powerful channel for other music, having managed more than half a dozen labels including Ext Recordings.

YUDAYA JAZZ (Dai Soma). More than just a VJ, Yudaya Jazz is a veritable improviser whose instrument is video. Often partnered by other artists, he films them and processes the images in real time, conserving loops, cutting and pasting and projecting a sort of musical doppelganger of his partners, setting them the challenge of improvising with themselves.
