Håvard Skaset finished his Master degree in improvisation/jazz at the
Norwegian College of Music in the spring of 2007. He has been active in
Oslo’s music scene with various ensembles and is one of the main figures
in Jazid Jazz club. Guro Skumsnes Moe also completed her Master degree
in improvisation/jazz at the Norwegian College of Music in the spring of
2007.

Together, in the band Art Directors they have toured in Norway,
Europe and the US playing in various jazz festivals. During the summer of
2006 Art Directors had an exciting collaboration with the legendary improviser
Fred Frith, with whom they played together in Oakland and California.
They have also worked with Lasse Marhaug, Frode Gjerstad and Hild Sofie
Tafjord. They combine their mutual interest in improvisation with
Håvard’s approach to the guitar, which stretches from hard core noise
improvisation to a subtle acoustic approach, and Guro’s sometimes
aggressive relation to her approach double bass, that makes her voice of
music personal and intense.

Martin Aaserud and André Castro create improvisations based on an
abstract sound world, through the exploration of textures and timbres
driven from Martin’s prepared guitar and their mutations sculpted by
André’s live sampling and processing. The result of this meeting is a
sonic landscape, fragile, silent and temperamental as a rusty forest.

They met in 2004 at Middlesex University where both studied at the Sonic
Art BA. André is from Lisbon and Martin from Oslo. They have been
developing this project since the spring of 2005 and since then have
played in London, Oslo, Bergen, Denmark, Sweden and New Orleans.
Apart from this project both compose solo electroacoustic works,
as well as music for dance, theatre and visual arts.
