LoveOctopus + Pumps

“LOVE OCTOPUS is initially 2 guys called Ola Breidal (Run Dog Run, astroburger, Hellang & Halvfet) & Morten Ødegaard (Smalltime Fiddlers, Moe Love Band, Hellang & Halvfet) who grew up together writing songs inspired by Beatles, Duran Duran & Roxy Music during the 80´s Although Morten and Ola have continued to write songs together during the years, it was not until 1999 they found back to the same spirit as they had as Hellang & Halvfet, and they formed LoveOctopus to mark a new start. Songs were recorded in WEs studio in Oslo by Don Dons with Danny (Gluecifer) on drums. Dozens of new songs were also recorded at Spendless Sound, a studio LoveOctopus shared with Astroburger, The Tables, American Suitcase and Piledriver. Their first album, Flavoured Air was released on TPWB records 11 November 2002. Just after the release, Morten and Danny recruited Raldo Useless (Gluecifer), Thomas Felberg (WE), and Line Lockert (Young Neils) for LoveOctopus LIVE line-up. Ola joined them for the first LO gig at Mono during Christmas 2002, and the fab five performed several spectacular concerts in Norway throughout 2003. In November, Morten announced that no more concerts will be held before 2004, an announcement met with disbelief and anger by fanatic LO supporters, but very much appreciated by the worn-out band members. However, the break had its clear functions. New LO recordings were taking shape, both in Oslo and in Beijing. In December, Ola started Doufu in Beijing with Anne Kari Johansen and Julia Brown, playing acoustic and very vocal versions of LoveOctopus songs as well as other material. Morten has his own Moe Love Band.”

“The Pumps has existed since 1998 and since then have been an active part of the rock scene in Oslo, Norway. The band has played more than 100 concerts and has toured in Norway, Denmark and Germany.

”The lead vocal is an undiscovered treasure. She has all the classic rock poses plus communicates energy and authentic sensibility. We would love to hear more from this band” (Concert review www.spot.no 2005).

In 2006, they contributed to the sound track of a Norwegian film, “Cold Feet” and also released a split single with another Norwegian rock band, The Retardos..

Despite many years of live performances, great reviews, demos and a solid fan club, the band has not released an album until now. The Pumps have written and performed many songs throughout the years and for that reason, the title of their CD is 9 Singles and a B-side."
