Arabian Prince
Arabian Prince’s story is undeniable. His life reflects the innovation of the early West Coast hip-hop scene, from his days amongst the likes of electro-rap legends Egyptian Lover and the World Class Wreckin Cru to his work with N.W.A. This anthology, a collection of his groundbreaking electro-rap work recorded between 1984 and 1989, not only compels the listener through sound, but through prose. Through Arabian Prince’s music and life story, Stones Throw Records is proud to present a glimpse into an overlooked chapter in hip-hop’s history. Released on Stones Throw (Coming 8-19-08)

Egyptian Lover
The Egyptian Lover bringing you that sound that you have enjoyed for over 25 years. Some call it Electro, some call it Hip Hop, some call it Old School, some call it Rap but I call it Dance Music. I make music to make you dance. Starting out as a D.J. in 1978-79 and becoming the main D.J. for Uncle Jam’s Army in 1982, I have been in the music biz all my life. My first time in the studio I recorded the “Breakin’ & Entering” Soundtrack. A true Electro recording. Getting my style from Kraftwerk and enjoying the 808 drum machine and programming it like a mad man. I love beats and no one was making beats back then. You could only get a (bonus beat) at the end of a 12" single. So I made my own. After that I went into the studio with Uncle Jam’s Army and recorded “Yes, Yes, Yes” with beats that sound like that “Breakin’ & Entering” soundtrack and “Dial-a-Freak” one of my all time favorites. I wrote all the lyrics, it was easy. Because I was making rap tapes for people at my High School (James Monroe in the San Fernando Valley) I was doing pretty good for myself as I was selling many many tapes. I was a local celeberty. I then began writting raps all day everyday, so when I wrote the songs “Yes, Yes, Yes” and “Dial-a-Freak” I borrowed a few lines from other raps I wrote. It was so much fun in the studio I had to go back and record some more. I booked the time and grabbed my notebook of raps and went in to record my solo project “Beast Beats”. My mother and sister read the title of my song and said “You better not make that song, don’t play with the devil” So I went to the studio and changed my mind and programmed the beat to “Egypt Egypt”. I did not think this song was going to be a big hit, I just wanted a song to play at the dances I was D.J.ing at to say my name in it ( I was kinda vain). So I started making the beat for it, Did the music the way I had mixed other music, arranged the song like a mega mix of all the songs I had mixed at the dances and took out my notebook of raps and put together a song. It was all peices that was mixed together. When the song was completed…I took the tape to KDAY and they loved it. I went back to the studio and recorded “And My Beat Goes Boom”, “What is a D.J. if He Can’t Scratch?” and “The Ultimate Scratch”. I did not know what I was in for. I started doing concerts and having more fun than ever. I have been all over America and all over the World. Thanks to all my fans all over the Globe, I am still doing shows and keeping the party HOT!!! I LOVE MY JOB Thank you! I made a second sight for my Older Fans with Classic Songs for you to put on your page. “I’m so Freaky” from “Back from the Tomb” ** “Keep it Hot” from “Platinum Pyramids” ** “Soiree at the Shindig” from “Platinum Pyramids” ** “Kinky Nation (Kingdom Kum)” from “On the Nile” ** “Dance (Re-Mix)” ** “Egypt Egypt (long Version)” ** “You’re so Fine” from “One Track Mind” ** “Work, Freak, Pump that Body” from “Back from the Tomb” ** and many many more…
