An opportunity for change? - Experiences of resistance and solidarity in a time of crisis

This year the globalization movement celebrates ten years since the battle of Seattle. It is also the year it is proven to be right, as we face an emerging crisis in the global economy caused by neo-liberalism. All over Europe and the rest of the world, people protest against paying for a crisis they are not responsible for. Greece rioted in December and protests have been going strong for the winter, with general strikes in Ireland, direct actions by fired workers in France and occupied universities all over Europe. How will the protests develop further together with the ongoing crisis in the economy? What forces are playing which roles? What are the resemblances and differences of the protests in different countries, and what kind of networks are formed? Is the crisis an opportunity for change?

At the 2nd of May Agitatoria have invited activists form Ireland, Poland and Greece to share their experiences from the last months and help us gear up for the coming summer of resistance.

We will have introductions by:
- Krzysztof Krol from Workers Initiative and the Rozbrat Squat in Poznan, Poland
- Ronan McAoidh from Workers Solidarity
Movement in Ireland
- Thodoris Velissaris from Greece
