GIVERS (us) + GARDENS & VILLA (us)

Spoon Train Presents:

[Bilde]

GIVERS are an indie pop group from Lafayette, Louisiana. The band is made up of vocalist and percussionist Tiffany Lamson (formerly of rock band Rotary Downs), vocalist and guitarist Taylor Guarisco, drummer and vocalist Kirby Campbell, bassist and guitarist Josh LeBlanc, and flautist, saxophonist, and keyboardist Nick Stephan.

The members of GIVERS met during high school and college, coming together to form the band after playing in various other groups like the young hip Grammy nominated Cajun roots group Feufollett and Grammy winning zydeco artist Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience.

On February 1, 2011, GIVERS signed to Glassnote Records.

In March 2011, the band was named one of TIME’s “Ten Acts That Rocked South by Southwest.”

The group released their first full length album In Light on June 7, 2011. On June 14, they performed “Up Up Up,” the first single off the album, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

After a hugely successful show at this years Øya Festival in Norway, the Oslo crowd can look forward to witnessing the band in the intimate surroundings of Revolver!

GARDENS & VILLA

[Bilde]

Gardens & Villa is the project of five college friends from Santa Barbara, formed following the collapse of a noisier post-punk band and a hitch-hiking journey up the west coast.

Members Chris Lynch, Adam Rasmussen, Levi Hayden, Shane McKillop began playing in earnest as Gardens & Villa in 2008. The name is pulled from the location of their house on Villa Street, and the property’s lovely garden to which they tend.

The music they make is very much connected to coastal city they call home — the stoney bike rides, dance parties, a scene free of judgment. The band refers to this Santa Barbara feeling as “coco vibes.” For two weeks in the summer of 2010, the band camped behind visionary and now-labelmate Richard Swift’s Oregon studio. No shower, no kitchen, but all the magic you could ask for.

After taking a band oath to always play all parts live — a la Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense — the band added member Dusty Ineman to supremely execute the live incarnation of the band.

Better be quick to the mark, cause this is going to sell out!
