UKS har den store gleden av å kunne presentere The Bruce High Quality Foundations første utstilling i Skandinavia; The Princess and the Monolith.

The Bruce High Quality Foundation er et New York-basert kollektiv med en variert og mangfoldig praksis. Gruppen ble dannet i kretsen rundt Cooper Union School of Arts i begynnelsen av 2000-tallet der de studerte under blant andre Hans Hacke og Walid Raad.

Som gruppe opprettholder de den samtidige fiksjonen av både individuelt kunstnerskap og som stiftelse med hensikt å forvalte arven etter den avdøde sosiale skulptøren Bruce High Quality.

I en rekke internasjonalt anerkjente prosjekt de siste årene har de harselert med kunstverdenens konvensjoner gjennom langfilmproduksjon, et eget universitet, forelesningsturnéer, musikaler og galleri- og museumsutstillinger der de blant annet reflekterer rundt spørsmål om økonomi, solidaritet og berømmelse.
På UKS viser BHQF en serie nye silketrykk med motiv hentet fra Diego Velázquez’ maleri Las Meninas og et tredimensjonalt verk med utgangspunkt i Stanley Kubricks romodyssé 2001.

BHQFs tidligere utstillinger inkluderer blant annet ”Dublin Contemporary” 2011, ”Argumenta” under den 54. internasjonale utstillingen på Biennalen i Venezia 2011, ”The Retrospective 2001-2010” ved Galerie Bruno Bischofberger i Zürich 2010, ”Stay With Me Baby” ved Bold Tendencies i London 2011, ”Greater New York” ved MoMA/PS1 og Whitney Biennalen i New York 2010.

In 2001, The Bruce High Quality Foundation was formed in New York City. The Foundation honors the legacy of the social sculptor, Bruce High Quality, through the instigation of confrontations between cold hard fiction and cold hard fact. In 2001, Bruce High Quality died.

The Bruce High Quality Foundation, the official arbiter of the estate of Bruce High Quality, is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the late social sculptor, Bruce High Quality. In the spirit of the life and work of Bruce High Quality, we aspire to invest the experience of public space with wonder, to resurrect art history from the bowels of despair, and to impregnate the institutions of art with the joy of man’s desiring …
