Simon Whetham has been capturing and composing almost primarily with field recordings since taking part in a research trip to Iceland in 2005.

Since then he has been gaining a steadily increasing profile: exhibiting his first sound art piece in Iceland; recording in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil with the Mamori Sound Project; performing at a large number of festivals and events, both nationally and internationally, notably Experimental Intermedia in New York and Madeiradig 2010; having work accepted for release by labels such as Monotype, Cronica, Unfathomless, Monochrome Vision, Dragon’s Eye, Mystery Sea, Entr’acte and Gruenrekorder; commissioned by Creative Labs to build a surround sound installation to demonstrate their equipment and software; commissioned by painter Kathryn Thomas to compose a surround soundtrack to accompany her ‘Lightyears’ series of exhibitions; producing radio works for Resonance FM, Overlap.org and Kunst Radio Austria; and invited to participate in two residencies at the Art Container in Tallinn, Estonia, the second to compose new work, collaborate with other artists using sound and run deep listening, field recording and compostion workshops.

This residency has resulted in ‘Active Crossover’, a touring sound exhibition project that toured through 2011 in four exhibition spaces across the UK, with associated live performance events featuring artists such as Colin Potter, Philip Jeck, Mark Fell and Scanner.

Events and projects in 2011 also included live performance at the Moers Festival, Germany; a further collaboration with Hugo Olim at Observatori Festival in Valencia, Spain; a site-specific performance at McNeill Street Pumping Station New Music Festival, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA; and running field recording workshops at both the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, Colombia and Madeiradig 2011 festival.

Throughout 2012 Simon is traveling the globe, participating in residencies, performing, recording and collaborating with other musicians and artists in each country he visits, and continuing to run Active Crossover as a residency and performance project.

Cloudbuilder is a live electronics duo with Arne Borgan and Ulf A.S. Holbrook from Oslo.

Cloudbuilder works from an organic starting point where the goal is to create a sonic expression instead of highlighting each musicians soloistic achievements. By using field recordings, synths, contact microphones, circuit bent toys and homemade electronics they are building spaces in layers with textures and drones. They released the cd Lowrider this year, 27 of them beeing handmade in a limited edition of 27.

Ulf Holbrook is a sound-artist and sculptor based in Oslo. He works predominantly with a fascination for the aesthetic and scientific aspects of nature, time, space and resonance. He releases solo as ulv and with the improtrio DUNLOPE HIGHFLEX.

Arne Borgan is an artist working in an interdisciplinary way with sound, video, drawing and installation works. He was a member of the norwegian trio ARM and has done exhibitions and soundwork in different constellations.

Cloudbuilder is also working with the duo Tarfield from Trondheim on the project called CT The are doing Audio//Visual//Space//Time Experiments in different venues and places.

Jon S. Lunde is a musician and thinker based in Kristiansand, Norway. His sound work is based on experiments and a joy of playing like the one we experience in childhood. The sound sources are often analogue samples which are processed digitally through the software AudioMulch. Lunde thrives with ever changing collaborations and constellations, and with conceptual approaches to music.
