ALWYNNE PRITCHARD

tear me, eat me, burn me (unperformed)

”tear me, eat me, burn me (unperformed)” began as a musical score for the touring exhibition of Theresa Sauer’s Notations 21 project – a collation of pieces from composers across the globe, exploring extended musical notation (as did John Cage’s original Notations publication of 1968). After I began work on the piece, I realised I was thinking backwards about the process of making it – i.e. about how various visual solutions I could find might be interpreted, rather than how to notate the actions that would produce the sounds I was imagining. In other words, it is the score as an object that problematizes the relationship between notation, musician and audience that interests me, rather than the score as a solution to notating musical ideas. As such, the work presented here inhabits a realm somewhere between musical score and purely visual artwork.

The first draft version of the piece was exhibited at Prøverommet last Autumn, and the final version, consisting of four variations on presentation of the image, will be shown as the Visningsrom USF, during this year’s Borealis festival, March 6 – 10.

Alwynne Pritchard is a British artist, composer and performer living in Bergen. She is also artistic director of the Borealis festival.

KRISTIAN S. HÆGGERNES

INGJERD

Ingjerd er en singer/songwriter fra Ålesund, som skriver ærlig om det hun ser og føler. Hun lar seg inspirere av blant annet Bon Iver, Sigur Ros og Joni Mitchell. Hun spilte tidligere i “The Street Corner Carpenters”, men har nå begynt på et soloprosjekt.

Vad vore livet utan diktarpräster! Ett liv utan dikt? Knappast.
Men ett liv fattigare och måhända inte likt en psalm. I ett försök att hylla kärleken, livet och döden ger trion KLASSE FRIMANNS TRIO, bildad på Claus Frimanns gate 1 i Bergen, en kortare framvisning av något som kan liknas vid hjärtlig cynism. Allmogens sånger – i ny tappning – om man så vill. Men utan diktarpräst.
