Sturla Heggdalsvik investigates systems of language, symbols and color.
He combines them with his subjective knowledge of cultural phenomena, among them heavy metal, fantasy, gaming and comics.
He is interested in how such combinations can be employed in producing artworks that manifest paradoxes, humor and unexpected relationships.
His tools in this exploration are painting, drawing, installation, photography and a recurring sense that everything might be a dead serious joke.
The exhibition at Rom8 will feature works made during his stay in the Bergen Academy of Art and Design studio space at USF Verftet in 2012/13.
Sturla Heggdalsvik is an artist, musician and creator of the ROV anthology series.
He lives and works in Bergen.
