Ilona Kenova er opprinnelig fra Den tsjekkiske republikk. I 2006 ble hun uteksaminert som Master of Dance Art ved Music Academy of Performing Arts Prague. Siden 2003 har hun bodd i Finland. Hun arbeider med samtidsdans og kontaktimprovisasjon som danser og pedagog, og er en av arrangørene av den finske kontaktimprovisasjonsfestivalen ‘Skiing on skin’. Avspenthet, uanstrengthet og en hensiktsmessig bruk av fysiske krefter er ledetråder i Ilonas arbeid. Nylig er hun blitt den stolte mammaen til en herlig liten gutt.

‘I would like to share with you what I´m interested in within dancing. How to move easy with the appearance of effortlessness. We will look how to find strength by softening our bodies. By relaxing the muscles system of the body we open space in the joints and bones which provide sensitive and flexible connections to the whole body. We will tune into listening and responding to the present movement situation. A soft body without unnecessary tensed muscles feels the skeleton, which is alert and strong in supporting yourself and your partner. We will work with simplicity and clarity, bringing awareness and articulation into the dance.’
