PINKWASHING IN ISRAEL
Israel try to brand themselves as a democracy in the way that they are liberal towards LGBTIQ-people. This is pinkwashing and it’s based on a racistic stereoptype where muslims and arabs are regarded as homophobic and transphobic. We as LGBTIQ people will not let us use to accept Israels occupation and ethnic cleansing.
Morten Sortodden has been a queer activist and a member of the Palestine Comitee in Norway for decades. He has studied in Gaza, and been working on medical teams several time during the Intifada, and the Israeli war in Lebanon in 2006. He has also arranged 2 queer tours to Palestine and Jordan.
MIDDLE EASTERN SEX WORKERS IN NORWAY
PION is an organization located in Oslo but is there for anyone who sells sex in Norway. PION is working to ensure the health and rights of sex workers with emphasis on HIV and Soi prevention work, legal advice and knowledge dissemination through the publication of the magazine Albertine.
PION’s operations are based on grants from public authorities and we work on specific projects with online offers for men selling sex to men and gay sex workers as well as outreach offers for migration-related sex work.
This specific presentation will focus on migration-related sex work and sex-workers coming from Middle Eastern countries.
Andrès Lekanger is a writer (Albertine), activist and social worker. He has worked for Sprøyterommet in Oslo and is an active member of PION.
