‘Villgeiter, plastikk, fuglestøy & enveistrafikk’ (2020) av Eva Pfitzenmaier: Fuglesang i Paris, villgeiter i Wales, klart vann i Venezia – dette er noen av fenomenene som oppstod da koronapandemien brøt ut globalt våren 2020. Vår tidsalders miljømessige utfordringer har mer enn noen gang blitt synliggjort. Da et virus tvang omtrent hele menneskeheten til å stenge seg selv inne i ukesvis åpnet det opp for at naturen kunne ta tilbake sitt habitat. Dette fenomenet, samt fravær av konsum og forurensing, personlig frihet versus ansvar for hverandre, nærhet og intimitet på distanse har vært inspirasjonen for flere korte satser for stemme, slagverk og kassettspillere.

‘Cumulus’ (2019) av Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir: I Cumulus​ fanges opp forskjellige klanger fra én lydkilde for å skape en klynge av lyd, som så blir destillert, forstørret og spredd ut over tid. Cumulus er en interaktiv lydinstallasjon som framføres live og eksisterer videre som en skulptur i rommet.

Med støtte fra Vestland fylkeskommune, Bergen Kommune, Fond for Utøvende Kunstnere og BIT20 Ensemble. Lydgalleriet følger Bergen kommunes smittevernsregler.

‘Accumulations’ is an evening of sound that blurs the line between a concert and a sound installation. It also explores the value of repeat performances in a musical genre often fixated on world premieres. Music by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir and Eva Pfitzenmaier, performed by Owen Weaver (percussion) and Eva Pfitzenmaier (voice).

‘Villgeiter, plastikk, fuglestøy & enveistrafikk’ (2020) by Eva Pfitzenmaier: In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the absence of human activity caused nature to reassert itself in many places. Birdsong in Paris, wild goats in Wales and clear waters in Venice were some of the phenomena that occurred when humans were shut indoors in the spring of 2020. This phenomenon- as well as the absence of consumption and pollution, the concepts of personal freedom versus responsibility for others, and the desire for intimacy at a distance—is at the heart of several miniatures for voice, percussion, and cassette tapes.

‘Cumulus’ (2019) by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir: Cumulus​ is a gathering of sound emitted from a singular source, capturing the sonorities and distilling, magnifying, combining and dissipating them over time. It is a small scale interactive performance installation, performed in a concert-like setting with the possibility of continuing on as an installation, playing back the performance as a sculpture fixed in space. As a performer elicits sound from a source in a repetitive, intuitive way, the sound is picked up, interacts with software, and is then sent back through exciters connected to drum membranes. As sound fills the space through the membranes, the reverberations from the space form sonorities that feed back into the exciters – creating an accumulation of the natural frequencies which sound out with the original sound events.

With support from Vestland fylkeskommune, Bergen Kommune, Fond for Utøvende Kunstnere and BIT20 Ensemble. Lydgalleriet follow the local guidelines to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus.
