“The sound of Killswitch Engage is characterized by a mix of powerful riffing, double bass beats, and dynamic vocals. The lyrics, while usually sung quite brutally, are actually very optimistic. Other notable features of their sound include the use of complex single-note articulations, power chord riffs, twin-guitar harmonies and techniques such as pinch harmonics. In the band’s DVD (see below), a member of Underoath describes the guitar squeals as “a pig getting hit in the side with a crossbow”."
