Gallery Maria Veie proudly presents the second solo exhibition by Victoria Pihl Lind. The exhibition “Universalman” consists of two new works: Hong Nai (3 min. video installation) and Universalman (4 min. 20 sec. video).

The characters in Universalman and Hong Nai seem to make little distinction between themselves and the outside world. They address others through their own inner voice, thereby revealing themselves in surprising ways.

Lind is interested in how the protagonists deal with the relationship between thought, speech and representation and in how they obscure the border between private and public space. Both works unfold in real time and in semi-public spaces: a truck and a kiosk with slot machines.

Lind has worked with two actors, Torbjørn Davidsen and Jimmie Jonasson.

Victoria Pihl Lind (b. 1981, based in Oslo, Norway) has a BA from Chelsea College of Art in London, and graduated with an MA degree from the National Academy of Art in Oslo in 2008. Lind works with a variety of media including video, text, photography and performance.

Victoria Pihl Lind iscenesetter aktører som anvender språket på sine egne premisser og utfordrer skillet mellom tenkning og representasjon og mellom det private og offentlige rom. Personene vi møter virker som om de ikke har noe skille mellom seg selv og omverdenen, de henvender seg direkte til omgivelsene med sitt indre språk. De utleverer seg uten forlegenhet.

Begge verkene utspiller seg i sanntid og i semi-offentlige rom; en lastebil og i en kiosk med spilleautomater.

Lind har arbeidet med to skuespillere, Torbjørn Davidsen og Jimmie Jonasson.

Victoria Pihl Lind (1981) tok mastergrad ved Kunstakademiet, KhiO i 2008, og har tidligere en BA fra Chelsea College of Art i London. Lind arbeider med en ulike medier som video, tekst, fotografi og performance.
