    his short city retreat is an opportunity to become familiar with Buddhist meditation and in particular the meditations on the stages of the path to enlightenment. These meditations, known as Lamrim, have the power to improve our good qualities (love, compassion and wisdom) and increase our inner peace and happiness. We will also do breathing meditation to calm and relax our mind before the Lamrim meditations.

  • 13:00 The Power of Mantra, Nordisk Kadampa Meditasjonssenter

    “Mantra” is a sanskrit word meaning “mind-protection”, it is the supreme method to accomplish spiritual realisations, pacify negative thoughts and receive blessings or inspiration from enlightened beings. The afternoon will include a combination of teachings, guided meditations and a short session of chanting the mantra of the Buddha of Compassion. We will learn how to combine mantra recitation with breathing meditation and also how to use mantras in the context of our daily lives.

    Kelsang Jangdom will give clear and practical advice from the Indian Buddhist Master Atisha, who originally brought Kadampa Buddhism to Tibet. These teachings are as relevant as they were hundreds of years ago when Atisha presented them and can help us to overcome inappropriate attitudes and actions and replace them by meaningful and positive ones.

    Everyone wants to be happy all the time, (even during sleep), but very few people know how to achieve this. Some people even think it’s not possible. Kelsang Jangdom will explain Buddha’s methods of improving the way we think about ourselves, others, our relationships, jobs and our life so that we can live a joyful and meaningful life and eventually attain permanent inner peace and happiness.

    Learn how these seemingly contradictory minds work together to produce a stable conviction in the path to happiness through our own wisdom and experience. Within Buddhism, faith is positive mental attitude that is not so much something “you either have or don’t”, but that is to be cultivated as an essential tool for mental growth through logical and personal experience of the teachings.

    The class consists of some short prayers, a guided meditation and a talk from Buddhist teachings.

    The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. When our normal distracting conceptual thoughts cease we discover that a feeling of happiness and contentment naturally arise from within. Learning to connect to our inner peace is essential for developing a happy life. When we learn to meditate, we will increase our inner peace and sense of well-being day by day until we can be happy all the time.
